Back to School Beauty Necessities

Whether you're in college like me, or in high or middle school, the return of the school year is coming up very quickly! This year I have set myself a lot of goals, such as doing better in school, getting more involved in my sorority, and staying fabulous all the time. I bought a few drugstore cosmetics to carry with me during classtime and I will also do a few new routines at nighttime to ensure my face is in top condition!
Carry-Ons
In my pencil case this year, I will certainly not be carrying just pencils! Today, I went to Walgreen's and purchased Wet N Wild's Mega Slicks Lip Gloss in Red Sensation. I had never tried this product before, but I am already in love and want to go back and buy more for my regular make-up collection! This lipgloss is very pigmented, non-sticky, and lasts for a pretty long time. It also only costs $2! Another product I plan on buying is a Wet N Wild single eyeshadow, probably in Brulee or Nutty, to carry around with me just in case I didn't have time to put on eyeshadow or for touchups. These eyeshadows have gotten fab reviews around the online makeup community and aren't pricey at all.
Routines
My lips have always been chapped and I never really did anything about it. A few weeks ago, I was priming my lips with NYC concealer, and I really noticed how cracked they were. So, I ran out to Walgreen's and purchased my new everyday product. It is Cococare's The Yellow Stick, which is 100% cocoa butter. This stick is amazing, and it smells like chocolate! It is very, very shiny, so I don't wear it outside the house though. I use this product right when I wake up and before I go to sleep. I also use it random times throughout the day when I am at home. My lips have never been so soft!
I have also been using Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer every night before I go to bed. This moisturizer was a gift with another makeup purchase and is very pricey; however, there are plenty of affordable moisturizers available in drugstores! My favorite drugstore moisturizer is Neutrogena's Oil-Free Moisturizer, which runs at about $9.

Smashin Fashion

I love rhyming my post titles! Haha, just putting that out there.

Anyways...
Today, I went shopping and found some unbelieavable deals that I thought should be shared. My favorite trick to budget shopping is the clearance section. Unlike other shoppers, the clearance section is my top place to head when in a store. You never know what you're going to find in clearance! I always remember that at one point, the clothing items were on sale in the regular part of the store, and that helps me realize that they aren't clothing rejects!
I went to Nordstrom Rack, which is a Nordstrom owned store, but it entirely clearance. This store even has a clearance section! I headed to that part of the store and found incredible deals on designer items. I bought a pair of jean shorts by Paige Denim, and they were originally $150. I got them for $30! What a deal.

I always wonder why people buy designer jeans for full price when there are so many stores that sell them for cheap! I head to stores such as Plato's Closet, Nordstrom Rack, and designer outlets in order to fill my need for designer jeans since they fit me better than non-designer jeans. I have many pairs of designer jeans, such as Lucky Brand, 7 For All Mankind, and True Religion, that I bought at a large fraction of the cost they originally were.

Spoil the Foil

A new beauty tip I just learned about was foiling! And I must say.... I'm obsessed!!! Foiling (aka wetting eyeshadows) has reintroduced me to one of my Urban Decay palettes that I had given up on because the colors were too glittery to stay on. This palette is called the Sustainable Palette, and I think it was made for foiling! My favorite color to foil in this palette is Uzi. It is a silver eyeshadow with rainbow glitter. Before I tried foiling it, Uzi was a hot mess and ended up all over my face instead of my lid! I hated it. Now, I think it's fabulous! Uzi paired with a black (like Oil Slick in the Sustainable Palette) is a great going out look.
I also tried foiling with my E.L.F. Bright Eyes Beauty Manual. Without foiling, the eyshadows don't have much pigmentation. With foiling, I'm still not too impressed. Nevertheless, I did buy it for $5! I did hope for better results with E.L.F. shadows because I hear so many good things about their products. Maybe they aren't for everyone!

Bad to the Bone

This post is a review of products that I tried but really don't like! They may work for some people; however, they really don't work for me.

Covergirl Eye Enhancers 4 Kit Shadows in Crystal Waters ($5.50)
I bought this eyeshadow kit about a year ago because I thought the colors would be so pretty. This kit comes with a dark blue, a teal blue, a light blue, and a light green. I have blue eyes, so I thought it would compliment them, and I didn't have a lot of blue eyeshadows in my collection. However, the colors have no pigmentation and was horrible all around. I tried using it a few times, but I had no luck. I have had luck with other Covergirl eyeshadows, like the Sheerly Nude kit, but maybe blues aren't Covergirl's thing.

Benefit Dandelion Brigthening Face Powder ($28)
This product was a huge disappointment, especially since it is almost thirty dollars. I bought it because I thought it would be a cute blush. However, there is literally no pigmentation to this color. I barely notice it on my skin. I still have it, but it is not my go to blush at all.

NYX Slim Eye Pencil ($3.50)
I love NYX products, but these just did not work for me. I owned three of these in grey, blue, and purple. When I first put the eyeliner on, the colors were beautiful. But after just five minutes, the colors would disappear from my waterline and transfer to my crease. Not a good look on anybody.

Tom's of Maine Natural Deodorant in Apricot ($6)
This deodorant is horrible! I wanted to try out a different deodorant, but I didn't realize that this product was only deodorant. Meaning that it had no anti-perspirant! I only used it for a week and it was a total waste of money!

Bic Soleil Triple Blade Disposable Razors 4 Count ($7)
These razors and my skin just don't get along. They are definitely cheaper than the rest, and they show it. I rarely cut myself when I buy other brands of razors, such as the Gilette Venus disposable razors, but with these I also end up with cuts on my legs! Not a good look.
